Kolhapur Mahalaxmi is one of the most revered Shakti Peethas and the presiding deity of the city. Unlike most Lakshmi temples associated with wealth alone, the Kolhapur Mahalaxmi holds special tantric powers. The Kiranotti Darshan phenomenon occurs in January & November when sunrays fall directly on the goddess.
